These are some very important questions to ask your tea supplier. The answers to these questions can generally tell you the quality of the tea you will be receiving, as well as the knowledge of the staff.
1. What is the location (country and region) the tea is grown in?
Remember, the exceptional tea suppliers can tell you the name of the farm that your tea was grown on, let alone the country.
2. Is the tea mixture of leafs from several farms or harvests?
3. Are the tea bushes grown in a clean environment? Is there neighboring industry that could pollute the tea farm environment?
4. Is the processing plant at the same location as the tea farm?
5. Is the tea processed and vacuum sealed on the premises?
6. How is the tea processed at the tea processing plant?
Steamed then dried and rolled, or sun dried and rolled, or fried then rolled?
7. Does the supplier deal directly with the tea farm? How many hands has the tea passed through before reaching your tea supplier?
8. How is the tea stored prior to shipment?
9. How is the tea shipped to the supplier? By air or ship?
10. Look for an expiration date on the green tea package. It is important to know how old the tea is that you are buying.
